The race categories are Men's Expert Loop, Women's Expert Loop, Men's Sport Loop, Women's Sport Loop, and Juniors' Sport Loop.

Race Timing: We'd like everyone to bring their smart phones with the Strava App ready to go... Strava will enable us to use segments within the race course for recognizing additional achievements. These segments will be sponsored and prizes from our generous sponsors will be awarded! Some truly great prizes including tires, wheels, helmets, etc! For example, the biggest downhill will be the black diamond segment. The biggest hill climb will be the polkadot segment. Etc. Since a racer can only wins one prize, the "love" will be spread out for others' exceptional efforts.
The beauty of this type of racing is that you can chill out and target a segment that you feel strong on... instead of having to win the whole event!

Course Details:
All riders will toe the line and launch from CAP's west snowmobile trail and immediately turn south to climb the snowmobile trail next to the tubing hill. :-)

The Expert Loop racers will continue on the snowmobile trail across the road and climb up the hill. Go straight on the main trail until you reach the USFS Boundary sign (when you enter the trees). Make a Right turn and drop down to Elk Meadows. You will see a trail that bears right off of the main trail... take that and continue the fun descent. When you intersect the main trail/road, turn Left and begin climbing. You will climb until you see the brown USFS sign. Turn Right and head toward St Louis Creek. At this point the climb mellows out and you are treated to more spectacular views. When you go past the top of Sunken Bridges, know that you have a few mellow uphills before you reach the top of Zoom.
Zoom will be the Black Diamond descent and will be a Strava segment bearing a prize for the fastest descent. At the bottom of Zoom racers will bear left onto Chainsaw. This is where the Sport Loop joins with the Expert Loop.
Chainsaw is another fun descent before turning left onto Flume.
Flume is a gentle climb along the South side of the creek before making a hard right at the road intersection.
Immediately after crossing the bridge make a hard right onto Creekside. We'll take Creekside all the way past St. Louis Creek campground to the trailhead.
From here we'll jump onto the road for a fast mile to the finish at the CAP.

The Sport Loop racers will turn right onto the road at the top of the tubing hill climb. They will stay on the road to the Elk Meadows trailhead.
A right turn at the trailhead onto Chainsaw will be a brief climb up to the base of Zoom trail.
This is where the Sport Loop joins the Expert Loop. Racers will stay on Chainsaw trail by making a right hand switchback.
Chainsaw is a fun descent before turning left onto Flume.
Flume is a gentle climb before making a hard right on the road.
Immediately after crossing the bridge make a hard right onto Creekside. We'll take Creekside all the way past St. Louis Creek campground to the trailhead.
From here we'll jump onto the road for a fast mile to the finish at the CAP.

**** A Healthy Note of Caution: The Expert Loop is hard. 18 miles with 1800' of climbing on snow requires stamina and a high pain threshold. It is likely to take 2:30-3:30 hrs of full exertion to complete. The Sport Loop is the "fun" loop... but it isn't easy either. We reserve the right recommend a DNF if you are well behind a reasonable speed for the Expert Loop.
